Pastor-Teacher

Growing up in a Haitian Southern church, where his father served as a deacon, Jean Pierre began to hear about God, sin, the Bible, and Christ. Although he wasn’t converted there, his sensibilities for the things of God—even gospel ministry—were set in motion.

He was recruited to play football at Bethany College, a small college in rural Kansas. During his early college days, the grace and power of the gospel were not evident in his life, although he maintained those sensibilities that were set in motion in him from his upbringing.

While in college, God led him to a small Baptist church in town and used his Word to begin convicting him of his sin and convincing him that he was lost and without God. Initially, he sought to atone for his ways by pursuing what he thought to be a “call” to the ministry. It was during this pursuit that the Lord used the gospel of Matthew to convince him that he was lost. Shortly after, in the Spring of 2009 the Lord graciously saved him, granting him faith and repentance.

Now, however, he had to reconcile his “calling” to ministry with his conversion. He was wisely counseled to step back from ministry and seek the Lord in the matter. During that time, his desire for pastoral ministry was inflamed in new and deeper ways. By this time, he had already left college to pursue training for pastoral ministry. During this time, the Lord burdened his heart to seek out formal theological training.

This burden led him back to South Florida to attend Grace Immanuel Bible Church and The Expositors Seminary (TES) for six years of training and discipleship for gospel ministry. There, he experienced ministry and body-life like never before and received rigorous theological training in the classroom and life-on-life discipleship within the local church.

Upon graduating from TES in the spring of 2018, he was called to Grace Bible Sanctuary in Palm Bay, Florida, where he served on staff as associate pastor to Senior Pastor Myrue Spivey, who served faithfully in that role for over four decades. In January 2026, the baton was passed from Pastor Spivey to Jean Pierre as senior pastor. Currently, he serves as lead pastor-teacher. His ministry at GBS entails preaching, training men, discipleship, and counseling.

Pastor Jean Pierre has been married for sixteen years to his beautiful wife Hannah. Together they have seven children: Josiah, Anelise, Ezra, Ezekyel, Samuel, Obadiah, and Malachi.
